Managing Geo-Fences

Familiarize yourself with our powerful geo-fence feature.

Geo-fences virtual perimeters for a real-world geographic area. You can use these virtual perimeters to manage and generate reports about your fleet.

Adding a Geo-fence

To add a geo-fence navigate to the geo-fence management page by going to Fleet > Geo-fences then clicking the New Geo-fence button on the top right corner.

On this page you will define your geo-fence by providing the following information:

Information

  • Geo-fence Name (required):
  • Send Notification Every (minutes) (required):
  • GPS Longitude (required): provide a central or anchor longitude within the geo-fence. For example a delivery hub.
  • GPS Latitude (required): provide a central or anchor latitude within the geo-fence. For example a delivery hub.
  • Draw Geo-fence on Map (required): draw the geo-fence using the polygonal, circular, or rectangular tools on the map.
  • Speed Limit (km): provide a speed limit to be notified if exceeded within the geo-fence.
  • Send Notification Every (minutes)*: the time in minutes to poll the speed limit.
  • Address: use this as a search tool to find a specific location.

Settings

  • Valid from (required): provide the validity of the geo-fence starting date.
  • Valid to (required): provide the validity of the geo-fence ending date.
  • Import Settings: import validity dates from another geo-fence.
  • Type: define whether you want notifications if a vehicle enters (in) or leaves (out) the geo-fence.

Zone Time Limit (Optional)

Use this to be notified if vehicles are not in the geo-fence during a specific set of times. For example: turn off during weekends.

Level (Required)

Choose the level in the organization this geo-fence is attached to.
